Punjab University Student Council Announces Formation of Mental Health Committee

Punjab University

Located in Chandigarh, Punjab University (PU) is a public college institution in India. It is regarded as a state university because it is supported by both the State and the Union governments. Its roots can be discovered in the University of the Punjab, established in Lahore in 1882. The university was founded on October 1, 1947, following India’s division, and was first known as East Punjab University. It was originally solely housed at a cantonment in Solan but subsequently moved to a newly constructed campus in Chandigarh and changed its name to Punjab University.

In order to identify and assist those in need of help, the Punjab University Campus, Students Council (PUCSC) stated that they would be forming a mental health committee.

To obtain their clearance, they will speak with the PU authorities.

The student council is requesting that the authorities hire more counsellors, including male counsellors, and counsellors Mehak Juneja of PU, who was present at the announcement, was informed that many students had approached them for counselling following the incident. It was also found that the student’s parents were unaware of his residence. Wardens have begun to verify the parents’ phone numbers that the students had shared.
