Instead of being burdened by materialistic wealth and consumerism, they prioritize essential need fulfilment. In their way of life, they refrain from hoarding excess items, even things like food and clothes. Anyone can imagine their level of satisfaction from the fact that they never pluck all the fruits from the tree so that new plants can grow from the seeds of the remaining fruits.

If ever any NGO runs a program for the distribution of clothes etc., they take one, or very rarely take two, and leave the clothes for other people in the community. This simplicity in life reduces stress and anxiety to a great extent, fostering a sense of satisfaction and gratitude for what they have, rather than what they lack. 

Connection with Nature 

Living in harmony with nature, tribal communities derive immense mental and emotional benefits from their strong bond with the environment. Nature brings them comfort and spiritual nourishment, filling their hearts with peace and serenity. Spending time in nature improves mental health is scientifically proven in different studies; tribal communities naturally understand and cherish this connection.

Traditional Knowledge and Wisdom 

Tribal communities have rich cultural heritage and traditional knowledge that has been passed down through generations. This knowledge includes medicinal practices, rituals and storytelling, which play an important role in maintaining mental well-being. These communities have vibrant cultural traditions. They celebrate significant milestones in their lives by singing songs and dancing together. Most of their songs and dances are performed in groups, symbolizing their strong unity and togetherness. In this way, rituals, cultural activities and ceremonies provide them with a sense of identity and meaning and a way to deal with life’s uncertainties and challenges. 

Freedom from Materialistic Desires 

Unlike mainstream societies, wherein materialistic desires regularly drive personal aspirations and competitiveness, tribal groups display less inclination in the direction of hoarding everyday useful gadgets. Because of freedom from materialistic desires, the feeling of jealousy, tension and dissatisfaction is decreased. They all are socioeconomically identical and feel no differences among themselves. They also adopt the “let it go,” “accept what has happened,” and “let’s see what happens” attitudes as their simplest coping techniques in adverse times and don’t overevaluate things.

Tribal groups have their own distinct identity and cultures. Different tribes living in the same village, have their independent identities, which can be easily identified. These different groups have unique costumes, dresses, and rituals. Also, a clear difference is reflected in their songs and dances. Tribal society takes pride in its identity; it promotes its culture and dress and is passing it on to the next generation. Their distinct and unique identity and culture give them a positive note in overall life’s evaluation resulting in increased well-being.
