In the interview with TNIE, she was promoting her recent book on spiritual enlightenment, “The Autobiography of God”. Lena talked about her spiritual journey and stated that she is a clinical psychologist and that her experience with psychiatric medication hasn’t been pleasant.
The interview contained some controversial statements that triggered debates about the appropriateness of the statements she made.

The statement from the Indian Association of Clinical Psychologists from Kerala Region mentioned the following: “IACP KR seeks to provide clarity on its official stance in response to the recent controversy involving Mrs Lena, a Malayalam film actress who asserted her credentials as a clinical psychologist in a widely circulated interview. After investigation, it is notified that Mrs Lena does not qualify as a licensed clinical psychologist registered under the Rehabilitation Council of India.“

Furthermore, “the statement that is emphasized in Lena’s view, doesn’t align or represent the beliefs or expertise of the qualified clinical psychologists in Kerala or anywhere else. The false claims can potentially mislead the public and create a wrong impression about the field of
clinical psychology.”

The organization further suggested that one should seek advice from professionals in such matters and that they don’t take any responsibility for Lena’s statements or views. “It is essential for people to rely on genuine professionals that are equipped with appropriate qualifications when they are seeking information or any advice related to clinical psychology or any other medical fields,” they said. The statement from IACP KR aimed to clarify the situation and reaffirm their commitment to upholding the standards and ethics of the clinical psychology profession in Kerala, as mentioned in the statement.
