The cross-sectional survey focused on youth, targeting the 10- to 24-year-old demographic. A stratified multistage cluster survey was used to select a sample of eligible individuals (total of 2,895 with equal numbers of people). Conventional medicine has largely ignored the health problems of young people. To address the issue, the State Department of Health made an offer to Dr. Rajendra Prasad Medical College as a center of excellence in mental health and wellness in Thanda. Development of infrastructure has also been called by Legislators to handle the issue, claiming, “The youth are suffering from the disease far more because there is a lot of pressure on them,” and pushing for the elimination of the societal stigma connected with mental health.

Meanwhile, the state health minister announced the government’s determination to appoint psychiatrists and specialists, in all 69 model health facilities in the state. He also vowed to step up efforts to combat the drug problem and said the state would open more detox clinics to help young people.
