Suicide Through the Eyes of a College Student
Suicide is not a common phenomenon, although it is highly traumatic for those left behind. The World Health Organization (WHO, 2016) notes that
Amber Pereira is currently pursuing her Masters in Psychology at California State University Los Angeles after completing her Bachelors in Science from Purdue University, West Lafayette IN. Her primary research interests include suicidality in adolescent and youth populations, risk factors associated with suicidality and the effects of social support more specifically in minority populations. Trauma plays a critical role in suicidality and suicide ideation, and through her mentor, Dr Gaithri Fernando, Amber is able to study its effects in other populations. She hopes to continue to conduct research on different populations and cultures to make the field more inclusive in its treatment approach.
