APSI to Hold a National Mid-Term CME Conference 2025 on Innovations in Addiction Psychiatry

Puducherry, India, April 11-12, 2025. The Addiction Psychiatry Society of India (APSI), along with the Department of Psychiatry at Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER), will host the national Mid-Term Advances in Addiction Psychiatry Conference regarding the theme of “Navigating new frontiers: Innovations in clinical practice on addiction psychiatry.”

In two days, this conference will gather eminent speakers, clinical investigators and clinical researchers, and postgraduate students specializing in addiction psychiatry to highlight exciting research findings. Keynote addresses, panel discussions, workshops, and competitive research presentations will be highlighted at this event. The organizers promise an engaging and enriching experience for all participants.

A Platform for Learning and Collaboration

Since the field of addiction psychiatry has become more vibrant and diverse, the conference will be providing insights into further innovations and directions in addiction psychiatry practice. The conference is one where internationally recognized speakers will be invited, with panel discussions involving eminent psychiatrists and workshops that will look into psychosocial innovations in addiction treatment. There will be a special postgraduate quiz competition that will provide a challenge to academic heads among residents of psychiatry from every corner of India participating in this event.

Esteemed Speakers and Scientific Session

Among the eminent speakers in medication addictions will be Dr. Dominique Lopez (European Union Drugs Agency, Chennai), Dr. Atul Ambekar (AIIMS, New Delhi), and Dr. Samir Kumar Praharaj (Kasturba Medical College, Manipal), among others. Other topics will cover psychedelic substances in addiction management and research paper writing.

Postgraduate quiz

The conference will feature the Quiz on Addiction Psychiatry for postgraduate residents of all colleges of medicine in India. Competitions will see two participating students per team from the same college, with several teams from a single college allowed.

A Challenge for the Participants in Addiction Psychiatry will examine the soundness of the different approaches to the field of addiction psychiatry, covering core concepts, clinical cases, and changing paradigms. Prizes will be awarded to the top three winner teams. The time limit for the quiz registration is till March 10, 2005- and the registration for CME is compulsory for participation.

Research and academic competitions

To stimulate research works, some oral and poster presentation competitions will be conducted as part of the CME. The theme of their abstract must be in sync with the theme of the conference. Selected participants may get a chance to present their work before an expert panel. Abstracts should be submitted by March 10, 2025.
