Admissions Open for M.A. Psychology 2023 at SNDT Women’s University

Shreemati Nathibai Damodar Thackersey (SNDT) Women’s University, Mumbai has recently announced an admission opening for M.A. Psychology. The Department of Psychology has a lengthy history in the discipline and consistently receives more applications than there are openings from all over India. They are very selective and only accept students based on merit distorts the demand-supply ratio. The admissions are said to take place around the middle or last week of June.

The university, which has been around for a century, has developed into a multidisciplinary institution that offers a variety of K–12–Ph.D. professional, technical, and liberal arts disciplines. It also has centers for women’s studies, inclusion and exclusion, distance learning, and connected universities for Ph.D. programs.

The SNDTWU has approved six institutions for Ph. D. research. 50,000 students attend SNDTWU, which has 1100 working members located across seven states and a union territory. According to the 2020 Week-Hansa Research, SNDT Women’s University in the multidisciplinary list of India is rated 32nd overall and fourth in Western India.

About the Program: M.A. Psychology

M.A. Psychology at SNDT Women’s University is a 2-year full-time on-campus program consisting of four semesters. The Department of Psychology is in two institutes across the state of Maharashtra which are Churchgate, Mumbai and Pune. The admissions are done on a merit basis in graduation.

The university offers this course in two different languages as a medium of instruction. With an annual intake of 25 students for clinical psychology and 30 students each for industrial psychology and counselling psychology, the Churchgate campus provides the study in English. The Pune campus offers the course in Marathi with an annual intake of 25 students per specialization in the aided program, and it provides 30 seats annually in the self-financed program.

The main objective of the program is to train professional psychology. The approximate fee for the first is Rs 11415/- and for the second year is Rs 8840/-. According to the Churchgate campus, the approximate fee range is Rs 19000/- to Rs 35000/- which may increase by 10%. All government-based scholarships are provided for students.

The students break down the Master’s programme into four semesters, dedicating the first two to Core papers and the final two to electives and research, during which they write a dissertation. The Department informs students about the specialization they would receive at the beginning of the program or at the time of entrance, depending on merit, which allows them to map out a career path for themselves.

The Eligibility Criteria

The students have the following qualifications:

Only applicants who have completed all 6 of the psychology papers in Semesters 5 and 6 of their last year of study in the B.A. Or a practicum journal will need to be provided as proof of completion, if required, for the 32 credits of psychology that should contain 4 credits of practicals.
Graduate in psychology from this school or another reputable university. By the time they graduate, students from a variety of areas should have taken 8 courses totaling a minimum of 4 credits, at least one of which was a practical course.No applicants will be considered for admission if they have a diploma or degree in another discipline.

The estimate of cut-off scores for the courses is as follows:

  • Clinical Psychology – 90%
  • Industrial Psychology – 95%
  • Counselling Psychology – 85%
Admission Procedure

The admission process for the program is as follows:

Step 1:

The respective program online for admission to SNT Women’s University will ask you to fill out the application form. You can visit their website or the following link to access the form http://sndt.digitaluniversity.ac/

Make sure the form is error-free because any mistakes will prohibit the continued processing of the form.

Step 2:

Take a printout of the completed application, sign it, and affix all the self-attested copies of supporting documentation, including Std. X, XII, graduation/B.A. mark sheets (Mark sheets of Semester I, II, III, IV, V & VI) and, if appropriate, a caste validity certificate (in case applying for reserved category).

Step 3:

The beneficiary department for which the application is made requires a direct NEFT or Google Pay deposit of Rs. 200 for the application form processing fee. You just need to pay the admission processing costs once for all programmes within the same department. You also must transmit the successful transaction’s screenshot to the appropriate head along with the point 5 papers to the appropriate Department email address.

Step 4:

Send the PDF version of the form and any supporting documentation to the address of the Department Office. If not, possible you can send an email or speak with the appropriate Head of Department regarding your issues with sending.

Step 5:


We will notify all chosen candidates of their selections through email and telephone after we have presented the merit list. Along with the necessity to submit the online application form and original mark sheets and certificates, offline document verification will be carried out, and individuals will be approached for this reason.Thus, ensure to check your emails and spam regularly.

Step 6:

The candidates can continue to pay the fees with the admin clerk after the verification of their documents.
