Easy-going Aamir, known popularly as a perfectionist, admitted that his acting in Laal Singh Chaddha – a Bollywood remake of the classic film ‘Forrest Gump’ didn’t go well. Revisiting his internal process, he elaborated further. “When my film fails, I feel bad for two-three weeks, and then I sit down with my team, analyse what went wrong with it and learn. I enjoy failures, they take me forward.”

Aamir’s co-star Kareena Kapoor Khan, who was earlier discussing the film’s prosperity, had said it is “a beautiful and honest film.” Speaking with The Hollywood Reporter India’s roundtable, she added that Aamir was quite affected by the film’s failure. “He went on for a while asking me if I would still speak to him after the movie bombed,” she said. “And I told him, if I was not proud of playing Rupa in the film, I would definitely be a little less sympathetic towards my character’s journey, as that prepares me for the future.”

The film, starring Aamir Khan, failed to captivate audiences from its release. Many viewers, already familiar with Forrest Gump and deeply attached to the original, had high expectations for a fresh take from the so-called “Perfectionist.” However, the remake struggled to meet those expectations. E-time stated how adapting a classic isn’t easy territory to tread. A remake of ‘Forrest Gump’ becomes even more complicated given the meandering, all-encompassing, non-linear narrative, profoundly (yet simply) approaching life and life purposes. You get to see a simpleton wander through the fabric of life, without actively seeking the meaning or answers, but finding them along the way.”

Having a good appearance is basic now, however, it puts these actors under immense pressure from the public, box office draws, different kind of intense roles, hence mental health care becomes inevitable. These visions have formed a tough mental disposition among actors, with Aamir Khan referring to Laal Singh Chaddha in which failures tug on the emotional chords of actors. Wise are they who learn, and for this, learning is very serious. Aamir’s failure and him analyzing it is relevant.

The actors need to develop a degree of genuine self-examination and accept judgments of the same, and if appropriate, they are referred to professional help. The support offered to Aamir by Kareena Kapoor Khan emphasizes that everyone must have a strong support system. That mental health is important does not by any means diminish the status of actors; it indeed would inform about their doing their job with less effort, thus pre-empting and averting burnout and emotional exhaustion.
